Room Full of Angels
by: Pat Woodrum

She was lingering now for about 4 hours...her breathing was very shallow. Her legs were black from the knees down and her eyes were fixed. She was 77 years old; Mother to nine children; Momaw tofourteen; Great Momaw to five. She was born in 1899, the oldest of nine children.

I was her youngest at thirty years old...I was very close to my
mom...lived next door to her...took her every where I went...she
was the mom of my three children...I was mommy. She was 49 when I was born...so I was quite spoiled..not only by her and dad but by my older sisters and brothers. I had neices and nephews older than me...

She was an active person, always in the garden, working with dad and his road side market. Loved to travel...and tell stories. She loved the Lord with all that she was...she lost three sons during her life... One at the age of nine months with chicken pox, one at the ageof twenty-six, (he had been paralized from the waist down for eleven years from a high school foot ball accident), and one at the age of nineteen who drowned in the river. She knew what suffering was and she knew the Lord God would see her through what ever she should endure... We all were around the hospital bed waiting ...watching ...wanting her suffering to end..

I looked at my husband and told him I wanted to go to the hospital chapel. He and I prayed. Then all of a sudden I told him I wanted to go home to be with my children. He looked at me with a question on his face. Then the door opened. It was the
nurse to tell us mom had passed on.

I walked in to the hospital room alone...the warmth that surrounded me was unexplainable...the peace...the restful look on my mothers face...the room was filled with angels...there is not a doubt in my mind and never will be. I felt them all around me as if they were lifting me up.

The angels took my mother to meet God at 12:20 pm on July 11,1976, and I was there. God promised us he would not let us
be alone and my mother wasn't. Later that day I called my minister, I told him I had good news and bad news. The bad news was Mom had passed on but the good news was the angels of God had taken her to him. This is a true story, maybe it isn't a tearful story but it did happen.
